EG I live in Boise, ID. I moved here in 2001 after finishing college in Montana. The weather is ideal for year-round outdoor activities, and I love that I can drive less than an hour and be in the mountains or the desert or near water.
SA What bike(s) do you own?
EG This is a tough question, as our business Into The Horizon Adventure Motorcycle Tours and Rentals has lots of bikes for me to choose from. However, since I’m just a beginner and don’t have my endorsement yet, I only ride the KTM 356 Days.
SA What or who inspired you to ride a motorcycle?
EG My husband got me started riding, with him on his BMW 1200GS. But I think I was particularly inspired by seeing other women riding on their own. I never really thought motorcycling was “for girls”, but now I can’t wait to get out there and have adventures!
SA Are you a part of a women’s riding group? If so, which one(s)?
EG Not yet.
SA Why do you ride or want to ride on 2-wheels?
EG I started riding dirt bikes so I could play with my husband and kids. Now I’m interested in getting out on adventures too.
SA Have you always been driven to explore adventurous activities?
EG No. In fact, I was afraid to get on the back of a motorcycle until I was 35!
SA What gets you out of bed in the morning?
EG My 5am workout.
SA If you could ride anywhere next year, where would it be and why?
EG I would love to do the Idaho BDR because I grew up playing in a lot of the areas it goes through and I’d love to go back and explore them as an adult.
SA What was your worst day on a motorcycle?
EG I haven’t had one yet!
SA Favorite motorcycle book?
EG Into the Horizon: A Lifelong Obsession With Motorcycles, by Lance Gines
SA Favorite food?
EG Does candy count? I love Thai food: anything with coconut milk and spices.
SA What age did you learn to ride a motorcycle?
SA What is the most important advice you have ever received?
EG My kindergarten teacher always said: “Never say ‘I can’t’. Say ‘I will try’.” And it’s stuck with me ever since.
SA Name 3 immediate things you would like to accomplish in the world of riding.
EG My most immediate goal is to get my motorcycle endorsement so I can go out on the road. And just keep working toward becoming a more proficient rider. And be less afraid when out riding.
