KF I live with my husband and stepdaughter in Hillsboro, OR, because our kiddo is finishing high school there. After that, the world is our oyster!
SA What or who inspired you to ride a motorcycle?
KF I’ve wanted to ride since I was a kid (probably due to watching the Karate Kid and the Lost Boys too much) but detoured into raising a family. My (friend at the time) husband rode, and when I said I was waiting to learn until my daughter went to college (and put me on the back of his bike) and he asked why, I didn’t have a good answer. So I started riding!
SA What bike(s) do you own?
KF BMW G650GS and kx100
SA Are you a part of a women’s riding group? If so, which one(s)?
KF Torque Wenches and Dirty Girls ADV
SA Where is your favorite ride and why?
KF Everywhere! I love the Lost Coast in California for its beauty and desolation, Julian, CA for its great roads and Apple Pie, and highway 219 in Oregon because it’s practically in my back yard.
SA Why do you ride or want to ride on 2-wheels?
KF I ride because I love the freedom. I love sharing 2-wheeled adventures with my husband. I love pushing my comfort zone, limits, and knowledge. And I love meeting other riders.
SA Have you always been driven to explore adventurous activities?
KF Yes, I’ve always been adventurous, and looked for ways to push myself.
SA What would you like to see more of when it comes to the women’s riding world?
KF Awesome co-ed activities that support and include all riders. I like to ride with my girl friends, my guy friends and my hubby all at the same time!
SA What gets you out of bed in the morning?
KF I love life, and cannot wait to see what each day brings.
SA If you could ride anywhere next year, where would it be and why?
KF Utah, which has been a dream for the last few years, and is planned for May 2016, so win! The reason was seeing a photo of Bryce Canyon in a magazine and wanting to be in the photo. 🙂 My next dreams are Alaska and Baja… No particular reason.
SA Do you personally operate or work at a women-owned/operated moto related website, blog, or business that you’d like to tell folks about?
KF I am an occasional blogger, on the theme of how motorcycles and therapy overlap. Moto-therapy.blogspot.com. I have a travel monkey who has his own blog here: adventuresofspanky.blogspot.com and my husband and I share a blog at aahoneymooners.globally.com.
SA What was your worst day on a motorcycle?
KF No bad days… Some bad moments… Tearing my ACL the first time trail riding is at the top of the bad moment list. Having to be rescued by quad and months of physical therapy to make me stronger were positive parts of that experience.
SA Favorite food?
KF Chocolate. No, pizza. No…Both!
