SA Where do you currently live? Why do you live there?
LV I live in Cle Elum, Washington. I went to college in Ellensburg and fell in love with the lifestyle and recreational opportunities. I ride horses, dirt bikes, snowmobiles and mountain bikes all from my home.
SA What or who inspired you to ride a motorcycle?
LV My Husband. He has been riding his entire life. When we met, he immediately introduced me to dirt bikes. After a few years he bought me a KLX 140. That was in 2008, and I have been riding ever since!
SA What bike(s) do you own?
LV I ride a 2012 KTM 250 4 stroke on trails, and my ADV bike is a 2014 Honda CB500X. I love my Honda!
SA Are you part of a women’s riding group? If so, which one(s)?
LV Not really. I am fortunate enough to have friends who ride. We camp and ride with 4-5 couples most of the time.
SA Where is your favorite ride and why?
LV I would have to say Colorado. We rode most of the high passes this last year, and the rides were not too challenging and the scenery was simply amazing! I have had some great rides in Utah as well.
SA Why do you ride or want to ride on 2-wheels?
LV Initially I rode because I knew my husband really wanted me to. But, once I became a good enough rider I started to truly enjoy it. The freedom, the outdoors, the scenery and just being with good friends.
SA Have you always been drive to explore adventurous activities?
LV Not so much. I have always ridden horses, but motorcycles and snowmobiles were never really in my sights.
SA What would you like to see more of when it comes to the women’s riding world?
LV Women’s riding gear that isn’t pink! I don’t like pink! Haha!
SA What gets you out of bed in the morning?
LV Life in general. I love my husband, our animals and how active our life is. There is never a weekend when we just sit around, we are always doing something.
SA If you could ride anywhere next year, where would it be and why?
LV I think a simple trip down to California. My brother lives in the Bay Area, so I would like to take the coast down to see him and his family.
SA What was your worse day on a motorcycle?
LV Trail riding in Idaho. Our friend was guiding us on this “epic” ride through the Sawtooth Mountains. What was supposed to be a easy 30 mile trail ride turned into a 70 mile ride with most of the ride being above my skill level. I tipped over in a creek, we ran out of food and I froze when we were in the higher elevations. Neither my husband nor I thought the day would be so grueling, so we were not prepared. From that day on, I ALWAYS over pack!
SA What is your favorite food?
LV Hawaiian pizza!
SA What age did you learn to ride a motorcycle?
LV I was 23
SA Funniest thing that ever happened to you while on a ride?
LV Once when riding in Salmon, Idaho with just us ladies on dirt bikes, I had a simple tip over. The crash bent my bikes handle bars into the shape of a pretzel. I got going again and immediately tipped over into the bank at the trails edge. My right leg was trapped under the bike. I was ok, but we couldn’t get the bike off of me. Finally after all three of my friends pulled as hard as they could the bike ripped a tree root out of thee ground that the foot peg was hung up on. We couldn’t stop laughing!
SA Favorite post ride beverage?
LV Chai tea
SA Name 3 immediate things you would like to accomplish in the world of riding.
LV 1. I would like to make it over all of the high passes in Colorado on my Honda. I had to ride my KTM on two of them. 2. I would like to teach a newer rider some of the lessons I learned the hard way. 3. Making new riding friends!
SA Name 3 long term things you would like to accomplish in the world of riding.
LV 1. Ride somewhere exotic/different. 2. Conquer sand on my big bike! 3. Take a longer trip some day. Maybe 2-3 weeks. My career just doesn’t allow it at this time in my life.
