MM North of Jack Daniels and South of country music!
SA What or who inspired you to ride a motorcycle?
MM I have been riding my whole life! I started on dirt bikes as a young child and as I got older I learned to ride in other disciplines. ADV riding and touring is my go-to, but I love anything with 2 wheels!
SA What bike(s) do you own?
MM KTM 950 Adventure, KTM 400exc, Sherco ST 2.5
SA Where is your favorite ride and why?
MM It is hard to pick a favorite ride. The world has so many beautiful, challenging, and inspiring places to explore! I would say the mountains of Eastern Tennessee hold a special place in my heart. Southern Appalachia is my home, so I will always love riding here!
SA Why do you ride or want to ride on 2-wheels?
MM Motorcycling has always been a huge part of my life. I could not imagine being unable to ride my bike!
SA If you could ride anywhere next year, where would it be and why?
MM I have been fortunate enough to explore a small bit of South America by motorcycle. If I had to immediately pack and leave for a moto-adventure I would definitely head back to that area of the world first. It is a dream of mine to ride the western coast of the continent!
SA Do you personally operate or work at a women-owned/operated moto related website, blog, or business that you’d like to tell folks about?
MM My husband and I run MotoDuoAdventures.com a moto-blog website that features lots of motorcycle related content. Photos, ride reports, race reports, gear reviews, inspirational messages, bike projects and more. Expect to see more awesome things from MotoDuo in the near future!
SA What was your worst day on a motorcycle?
MM In April of 2014 I was working at our local motorcycle dealership. It was a Thursday afternoon, and I was supposed to be leading an experienced sport ride the following Saturday. I had taken a lunch break and hopped on a brand new Aprilia Capponord (the bike I would be leading the ride on) to take it for a spin. On my way back to the dealership, a large pickup truck pulled out in front of me leaving no time to react. I hit the rear end of his truck at roughly 55mph. I went flying about 40 feet and the truck actually spun a 180. I broke both arms, my pelvis, dislocated my hip, and tore my ACL (again). Luckily, I was able to think quickly and do a “tuck and roll” which kept me from hitting my head. Worst part of the situation though was the driver was illegal in the US, the truck was unregistered, and he did not have a drivers license. This was the day I learned the importance of having good insurance! I had a couple of surgeries and many months of rehabilitation but it didn’t squash my love for riding!
SA Favorite food?
MM I just love food.
SA What age did you learn to ride a motorcycle?
MM I learned at 8 years old, sharing a Honda Z50 with my two younger brothers.
SA Favorite post-ride beverage?
MM A cold, local brew!
