Shal Wilson – Ride S.M.A.R.T. (Shal’s Motorcycle Adventure Rider Training)
Shalmarie "Shal" Wilson is a professional motorcycle instructor and a founding member of SheADV, an organization dedicated to empowering women adventure riders. With over 30 years of backcountry experience, particularly in Alaska, Shal brings a wealth of knowledge to her role as a board member and lead instructor at SheADV.
Shal holds a B.A. in Physical Education with an emphasis in Outdoor Recreation. She is certified in both Total Control and Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) for on-street training, and has received training from Dragoo Adventure Rider Training (D.A.R.T.) for off-street instruction. Additionally, she is a Certified Wilderness First Responder and trained in Crash Scene Safety.
Her journey into adventure motorcycling began after a near-fatal accident in 2011, which inspired her to become an instructor to help others ride safely. In 2015, she collaborated with TouratechUSA to establish SheADV, where she has been instrumental as the Project Manager and lead instructor.
Shal's extensive experience includes thousands of miles of backcountry adventure riding, co-leading multi-day tours, and serving as an ambassador for the Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) organization. She is passionate about sharing her expertise to help riders master their skills, increase their fun factor, and enhance overall safety.
